Wishlist Wednesday (6)

On My Wishlist is a weekly meme thought of by Book Chick City. It allows us to share the books we haven’t bought yet but are waiting to be bought and devoured. I know my wishlist is huge and I use it more to track what I want to buy next than to ask for gifts from the hubby, but this gives us a chance to share authors/series we are looking forward to! Check out the ‘On My Wishlist’ post from Book City Chick here.

I keep hearing about how awesome this series is but I admit the slightly futuristic/sci fi-ness of it has made me hesitant!
Title: Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, Book 1)
Author Ann Agguirre
Genre: Sci Fi
Publisher: Ace
Publication Date: 26 Feb. 2008

Summary: As the carrier of a rare gene, Sirantha Jax has the ability to jump ships through grimspace—a talent which makes her a highly prized navigator for the Corp. Then a crash landing kills everyone on board, leaving Jax in a jail cell with no memory of the crash. But her fun’s not over. A group of rogue fighters frees her…for a price: her help in overthrowing the established order.

Books In Series:
1. Grimspace
2. Wanderlust
3. Doubleblind

I admit, I know absolutely nothing about the author or this book. I just liked the cover.

Title: The Accidental Demon Slayer
Author Angie Fox
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Publisher: Love Spell
Publication Date: 29 July 2008

Summary: It’s never a good day when an ancient demon shows up on your toilet bowl. For Lizzie Brown, that’s just the beginning. Soon her hyperactive terrier starts talking, and her long-lost biker witch Grandma is hurling Smuckers jars filled with magic. Just when she thinks she’s seen it all, Lizzie learns she’s a demon slayer-and all hell is after her.

Of course, that’s not the only thing after her. Dimitri Kallinikos, a devastatingly handsome shape-shifting griffin needs Lizzie to slay a demon of his own. But how do you talk a girl you’ve never met into going straight to the underworld? Lie. And if that doesn’t work, how dangerous could a little seduction be…?

Books In Series:
1. The Accidental Demon Slayer
2. The Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers

  • I was hesitant about the heavy scifi angle of ‘Grimspace’ too. It sounded a little too ‘Startrek’/'Battlestar Gallactica’ to me. But then I read it and fell in love. It feels more like Joss Whedon’s Firefly/Serenity than anything else. The characters spew witty banter, there’s a *HOT* romance and a kick-ass female lead.
You will like it, for sure.

  • Grimspace is so good!!! Jax, the heroine, is awesome.

  • Riva:

If you like your urban fantasy with a big dose of tongue in cheek, you’ll love The Accidental Demon Slayer. I’ve read both books in the series and they’re a hoot!
