@K.C. Smokinhotbooks, It is definitely a splurge. My kindle was my birthday present last year and it has been well worth it simply because of the sheer number of books I have read since I bought it. Before the kindle I read maybe 6 a year, if that. Consider all the freebies that amazon and other sites give away, the discounted kindle book pricing(most of the time), and if you are tech savvy you can use ebooks from the library.... well it is probably close to breaking even in savings.

I have never tried to read on the sony e-reader but I know a few people who have them and like them just fine. I went with the kindle over the sony because at the time they were similar in price and I really really wanted the wireless book buying the kindle offers.

Tiff I still think $259 makes me wince and clutch my wallet close to my heart. I'm all about ereaders, but I can't seem to take the financial plunge yet. Any thoughts about the sony e-reader?

@K.C. I think its more like $259, same price as the Kindle! I don't think I could read on my ipod touch tho. I do have the kindle app and use it occasionally, but it isn't as nice to read from as the Kindle!
