Laurell K Hamilton gets a website facelift.

I should be cleaning or finishing homework, but twitter keeps me well distracted. While procrastinating on twitter I saw Laurell K Hamilton tweet that their new website was up and running. It is a very nice facelift, in my not so humble opinion. The new photos in the gallery section are flattering and a nice update.

What I didn’t realize had happened, and don’t fully understand, is the revising of all the old Anita Blake covers. I mean I know it happens with reprinting and so I assume that is when it was done. Yet, I am a little disappointed that they are more inline with the newer books. I don’t find the new Anita covers appealing and I still don’t understand how they relate to the novels. Maybe someone can clue me in so I feel less stupid.

What say you on the redesign and covers?

  • I don’t like the new covers the remind me of the movie Saw. I’m not a big fan of the images either though. Who’s the guy? Is that her husband or something?

  • I agree with you… I like the facelift, I like the new pics… but the covers??? how the hell they relate to Anita or her men?? seriously hehe

    Great post =)))

  • LiLi:

Thanks for the notice! I love the makeover and her books. I wish I had read more of her Gentry series. :)

    • @LiLi, I started with the Anita series and read Merry afterwards. I enjoyed them, tho both series seem to have a similar arc when it comes to men and relationships. Doyle makes my heart go pitter pattern…

  • I didn’t realize *all* of LKH’s Anita books were being re-released with those new covers.
I think it’s an attempt by her publishers to make the Anita books stand-out from the plethora of Urban Fantasies now dominating bookshelves – and to lend some credence to her series by making it look ‘edgier’ and ‘darker’.

I wonder if those pics of LKH have been airbrushed just a little bit?
And how old is LKH to be going around wearing an all-leather halter dress? Yikes. Glad she’s not my mum.

  • I STILL haven’t read the Anita books. I really wish I could get all caught up with everything I want to read. :(

  • I loathe the new covers, I posted them a week or so ago when I saw them. Yuck. Too SAW for me.
